The Colorectal Surgery Trust is a specialist surgical practice serving Cape Town’s northern suburbs and referring doctors across the Western Cape from two hospitals: Mediclinic Durbanville and Mediclinic Cape Gate. The practice focuses on disorders of the colon, rectum, anus, small bowel, pelvic floor and abdominal wall, with a particular emphasis on robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

How we work

As far as possible, every patient’s care is planned with a multidisciplinary team — gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, stoma therapists, pelvic floor physiotherapists and dietitians — so that decisions about surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surveillance are made together, from the start.

We measure what we do. Patients capture baseline quality-of-life and outcome scores at the beginning of their journey with us, tracked long term through the SAM Registry, and our results are regularly audited. It is our way of making sure “excellent care” is a fact, not a slogan.
